Sales Tax Exemption

Ask with your resale certificate number; staff confirm it, and it applies to open invoices and future auctions at that house.

If you buy for resale and hold a certificate, you can ask an auction house to treat you as tax exempt. Under Your account → Payments and ID → Tax Exemption, find that house, enter the certificate number and press Send to (house). The house's staff check it and confirm.

Steps

  1. Your picture → Your Account → Payments and ID → Tax Exemption, the house you buy from.
  2. Enter your resale certificate number and send. The house's staff check it and confirm; you are told on the bell.

Once confirmed:

  • invoices that are still open at that house are re-rated with no tax
  • future invoices there carry no tax and note your certificate number
  • an invoice that was already finalized does not change

Exemption is per house, because each house is the seller that has to keep your certificate on file. Ask at each house you buy from.
