Searching Every Auction House
The Search button looks across every auction house on the platform; the search bar on an auction's page looks inside that auction. Filter by ongoing, upcoming or past, and by category.
There are two searches, and they do two different jobs.
- Search in the menu (the magnifying glass in the bar at the top) is the platform's. Press it on any site — an auction house's or crossroadsellers.com — and you land on crossroadsellers.com, searching every auction house on the platform. A house's site does not keep a search of its own.
- The search bar on an auction's page looks inside that auction: its lots, by a word or a lot number.
Help works the same way: an auction house's site sends you to the platform's help center, because the help is written by the platform, not by the house. A question about your bids or an invoice at a house still goes to that house — the Ask a question button knows where you came from.
What You Can Type
A word or two from the title or description ("teak sideboard", "Craftsman"), a maker, or a lot number. On the platform, an auction house's name or town finds the house itself, listed above the lots with how many auctions it has on and its rating.
The Filters
- When: Ongoing is lots taking bids right now, soonest to close first. Upcoming is lots in auctions that have been published but not opened yet, with the opening time. Past is lots that have closed, with what they sold for, or "unsold". All shows everything, ongoing first.
- Category: the categories the matching lots actually use, with counts. Only houses that catalogue with categories show them.
- Auction house (platform only): narrow to one house.
Each lot opens on its own house's site, where you bid. One login works at every house; each house approves you separately before your first bid there. See Registering to bid.
Sorting an Auction's Lots
On an auction's own page the Sort box beside the search puts the lots in the order you want: Lot number (the catalogue, the default), Closing soonest, Most bids, Price, low to high, Price, high to low (the opening bid until a lot has a bid, the current bid after), or Most watched. The sort stays with the search and category filter while you page through, and Clear puts everything back.
