The Bell: Your Notifications
The bell in the menu counts what you have not read yet; the notification center lists every outbid, win, invoice, reply and statement, from every house.
Next to your name in the menu is a bell. When something has happened that you have not seen yet, it carries a red number: how many unread notifications you have. Press it and a panel opens right there (on a phone it slides up from the bottom) with your latest twenty, newest first. All or Unread at the top, Load More at the bottom, Mark All as Read if you want the count gone. Anything on screen for a couple of seconds counts as read. Press Escape, the bell again, or anywhere outside to close it. All Notifications at the foot of the panel opens the full archive page.
What Lands There
Everything the platform also emails you about:
- Outbid on a lot, with the price now and the least you could bid. Several outbids on one lot within a couple of minutes are one notification, not four.
- You won a lot, with the hammer price and the total including premium and tax.
- Your invoice is ready, and later it has shipped, with the tracking number.
- A second-chance offer from an auction house.
- A registration decision: approved to bid, or not.
- A reply on a ticket you opened, from the auction house or the platform.
- A statement finalized for you if you consign, and the moment a house connects you to its consignor record.
Each notification is a pointer to the real thing. Opening it marks it read and takes you to the lot, invoice, ticket or statement.
One Bell for Every House
Your login works at every auction house on the platform, and so does the bell: the center shows notifications from every house you belong to, each marked with the house's name. Opening one from another house takes you to that house's site. Mark All as Read clears the count.
The bell is a companion to email, not a replacement: nothing appears there that was not also sent to you. Notifications older than six months are cleared out.
In the App
In the Crossroad Sellers app the same list is the Alerts tab at the bottom, with the unread count on it. Tap one to open the lot in the app; anything else opens on the website. Mark all read clears the count here and on the website — it is one list. Turn on the phone's alerts (asked after your first bid) and the same notices also reach your lock screen.
