Confirming Your Phone Number

A six-digit text confirms your number; once texts are switched on, every house asks for it before your first bid.

Add a mobile number under Your Account → Personal Info → Contact and confirm it with the six-digit code sent by text. Once texts are switched on, a confirmed number is asked for before your first bid at any house, so that the house can reach a winning bidder about pickup. Until then the button says so and nobody is held up by it.

Steps

  1. Account → Phone. Enter your mobile number and press Send code.
  2. Type the six-digit code from the text. Ten minutes, five tries.
  3. The page shows confirmed. Once texts are switched on, this is asked for before your first bid.

The code works like the email one: ten minutes, five tries, one text every fifteen minutes to the same number. Standard message rates apply. The number that gets confirmed is the one the code went to.

Changing the number later works the same way: a code to the new number, and once it is confirmed, an email to your address saying so, with a This wasn't me button in case it was not you.

Texts About Your Bids

Once your number is confirmed, the same page offers Text me when I am outbid. Tick it and save to be texted, as well as emailed, when someone beats your bid; see Outbid emails and watching lots.
