Your Photo and the Account Menu
The picture at the right end of the menu is you; press it for Your account, My bids, Security and Sign Out. Add a photo from Your Account → Personal Info → Photo.
At the right end of the menu, after the bell, is a small round picture. Until you add a photo it shows the first letter of your name on a colour that is yours and never changes. Press it and a short menu opens, with your name and what you are at this house (Bidder, Staff, Administrator, Owner, Consignor) at the top: Your account, My Bids, Watchlist, Security, and Sign Out. Press Escape, the picture again, or anywhere outside to close it. On a keyboard, Enter, Space or the down arrow opens it, the arrows move through it, and Escape puts you back on the picture.
Steps
- Press your picture at the right end of the menu → Your account → Personal Info. your picture is at the top of the Details and Address page, with a pencil on it.
- Choose a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 5 MB. Drag to place it in the round preview, zoom with the slider.
- Save photo.
If you work at an auction house, the picture at that house's site is the house's logo instead, and the menu offers the Staff console in place of My bids; an administrator sees Settings too.
Adding a Photo
On Personal Info, press the small pencil on your picture at the top (or Add one); a window opens on the page. Pick a JPG, PNG or WebP up to 5 MB. You will see a round preview: drag the picture to place it and use the slider to zoom, then Save photo. The picture is cropped to a square right there in your browser and only the cropped result is uploaded, at two small sizes, so a photo straight off a phone is fine. Remove photo takes it away and the initial comes back.
Your photo shows in the menu and, later, beside your public profile and your reviews. Nothing else about you is shown with it.
Light or Dark
The same menu has Dark mode (a moon) while the site is light, and Light mode (a sun) while it is dark; press it to switch. Until you touch it, the site follows your phone or computer. The choice is kept in this browser, so set it once on each device you use.
