Selling Through an Auction House: Your Consignments
If an auction house sells goods for you, it can connect your account so you see your lots, what they sold for, and your settlement statements.
When an auction house sells goods on your behalf, you are its consignor. The house can connect your Crossroad Sellers account to its record of you, and from then on Consignments appears in the menu on that house's site.
Getting Connected
Only the auction house can do this; there is nothing to apply for. Give them the email address you use here (or want to use). One of two things happens:
- You already have an account with that address: it is connected straight away and you get an email saying so. Sign in as usual.
- You do not: an account is created for you and you are emailed a link to Choose a Password. The link works once and expires in seven days. If it lapses, ask the house to send it again.
The same login works for bidding. If you also bid at that house, nothing changes about that.
What You See
Consignments on the house's site shows:
- Your Lots: every item catalogued under your name, with its lot number, which auction it is in, and its status: being catalogued, in the catalogue, bidding open, sold, unsold or withdrawn. While bidding is open you see the current price and how many bids; once sold, the hammer price. Reserves and bidders' maximums are never shown, to you or to anyone.
- Statements: one per auction, once the house has finalized it. Each shows every lot with its outcome, the commission taken off each hammer price, any fees, what is due to you and what has been paid. Open one for the full statement, or download the PDF the house issues.
A statement appears only when the house finalizes it. Until then the auction is still being worked through and the figures could change.
Questions About a Statement
Use Ask a question on the house's site; it goes to their staff, and you are emailed when they reply. The platform itself does not hold your goods or your money.
Removing Access
The house can disconnect your account at any time from its side. Your login itself is unaffected. If you consign at more than one house, each connects you separately, and your account page lists all of them under Where you consign.
